The vast majority of security solutions rely on electricity, and gates are a particular problem, as a power failure increases a person’s chances of being hijacked, as they have to physically open the gate, leaving themselves that much more vulnerable. While all good security solutions have battery backups, it is the actual length of time these can last while running gate energizers that is the thing in question.

Gate energizers switch over automatically when the power goes off because they are  provided with battery back up. Charged with a transformer, it will work for several opening and closing cycles before needing a recharge when the electricity power is restored.

Electric gates, solid and imposing, are used in combination with other security features to install a full security system. The backbone of any electric gates are the gate energizers; enabling the gate to open and close without having to manually push the gate. They differ in design, power and use, depending on the type of gate you have.

High use of electric gates is going to require heavier duty energizers, whether for residential or commercial use, and  all our gates are  made to measure, and we work closely with our clients to make and supply all types of gates and gate energizers to meet their exact specifications. The designs can be fabricated as a single or double  swing gate, or sliding gate and we then match these gates with the right automatic gate operating system.

In South Africa today, we can’t blame power failures on highveld storms and lightning bolts anymore; the reason is more likely to be load shedding or from the cable theft epidemic which regularly plunges whole suburbs into darkness for hours and days.

If you can’t rely on something as basic as an electricity supply, by making sure you have battery operated gate energizers, you can rely on your faithful gate to open and close as always from the safety of your vehicle.
